This unique 1957 Mercedes-Benz LF 311 classic fire truck in concours condition is a valuable asset for collectors and vintage vehicle enthusiasts.
It was originally purchased by the plant fire brigade of Chemische Werke Hüls AG in Herne-Wanne.
The TroSLF 16, built by Carl-Metz, was used as a fire engine with the designation LF 16-S (special construction).
With an alternative body, it could transport 560 litres of foam agent and 750 kg of powder, which made this vehicle exceptionally versatile.
The large loudspeaker on the roof served for important announcements to plant staff and the public.
The vehicle remained in active service at Chemische Werke Hüls AG until the late 1980s and was then taken over and carefully restored by the Herne Fire Brigade, unit 'In der Wanne'.
