Original, early firefighting G-model from second ownership, which has never been used for civilian purposes.

Year of manufacture: 1981 / First registration: 07-1981.

Original mileage is just 29,800 km from over 44 years in fire service.

Advance Rescue Vehicle (VRW) with ZIEGLER superstructure and Knurz-Kirsch power generator with 5 kVA output.

German vehicle, with original registration document (only 2 listed holders to date), continuously registered and in operational service or garaged until 10/2025.

The manufacturer is still registered as GFG "Geländefahrzeug-Gesellschaft", at the time a joint venture between Daimler-Benz and Steyr-Daimler-Puch in Austria, in the original documents. This is one of the last vehicles to bear this manufacturer entry; shortly afterwards, "Daimler-Benz" became the manufacturer listed in the registration records.

A complete MATTER roll bar was installed in 1991 as recorded, and remains fitted.

The long-wheelbase 280 GE is the largest and most powerful G-Class variant from the first series, and was the highest-specification factory model available from Mercedes at the time.

Most recently, the vehicle mainly transported a portable fire pump (TS) with suction hoses and accessories. Therefore, there are no rear seats, just a loading area. No further seats beyond the two front seats remain.

Gross vehicle weight was increased from the original 2,900 kg to 3,030 kg as per the 1991 registration.

Thus, the 280 GE currently offers a payload of 670 kg.

Fitted with quality winter tyres bearing the snowflake symbol to current legal standard (DOT = 2018).

Although the G has no towbar, the basic mounting crossmember is present. Retro-fit/towing capacity information is not possible, as the relevant fields in the original registration document are marked "not applicable".

According to oral information, the Mercedes is accident-free, but this cannot be documented and is therefore stated as a verbal history to the buyer.

The 280 GE has rightly received a positive historic appraisal and is therefore officially recognised in Germany as an "automotive cultural asset".
