U 1300 (Type 435 with OM 366A Turbo Engine) > Due to its solid basis and low mileage, we fully refurbished this Unimog 1300 L both technically and visually, inside and out, using various new parts as well as blasting and painting work. Before mounting the dropside body, we sandblasted several frame components and struts. The bed was completely overhauled and repainted; the floor was fitted and sealed with new phenolic plywood panels. We chose the original Unimog color “sap green” and complemented it with a new 1980s-style decor. Finally, an upholsterer handcrafted new seat cushions and covers. In the center, we installed a foldable storage compartment, also covered by our upholsterer—perfectly suited as a breakfast compartment—which also serves as an armrest.
The last photos give a small “before-and-after” impression. Many more photos are available.
A total of around 450 labor hours have been invested. The investment volume is heading toward a mid-five-figure sum.

The Unimog 435, together with the 425, constitutes the first heavy Unimog series with an “angular” cab and is rated as a 7.5-tonner, whereby the 435 was even offered in 3 variants. It featured longer wheelbases (3250, 3700, and 3850 mm) and more powerful engines. It is equipped with a cranked ladder frame and rigid portal axles guided by torque tubes and Panhard rods, with coil springs front and rear. The drive can be switched between rear-wheel and all-wheel drive. The approach angle uphill is 46 degrees, downhill is 51 degrees, ground clearance is stated at 440 mm, and the fording depth is 1200 mm (military version).
