This unique 1957 Mercedes-Benz LF 311 vintage fire truck in concours condition is a valuable addition for collectors and classic vehicle enthusiasts.
It was originally acquired by the plant fire brigade of Chemische Werke Hüls AG in Herne-Wanne.
The TroSLF 16 with Carl Metz bodywork served as a fire engine, designated as LF 16-S (special construction).
With a different body, it could transport 560 liters of foam agent and 750 kg of powder, making this vehicle particularly versatile.
The large loudspeaker on the roof was used for important announcements to plant personnel and the public.
The vehicle remained in active service with Chemische Werke Hüls AG until the late 1980s, after which it was adopted and carefully restored by the Volunteer Fire Department Herne, “In der Wanne” unit.
